Lawrence Mayo & Ponder, a Newport Beach advertising agency, has named
Maria Nepite of Santa Ana as associate creative director. She will be
responsible for all agency accounts and will lead the agency’s Latino
marketing team. Nepite has worked extensively in advertising creating
television, outdoor, radio and print advertising for Ford, Sears, Kraft,
Toyota, Pacific Bell and Levi’s. Nepite is a member of the Cuban American
Scholarship Fund and holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish
Literature/Latin American Studies from Cal State Fullerton. . . .
Katherine Elizabeth Henze, daughter of Bob and Caroline Halford of
Newport Beach, was named to the dean’s list at the University of Notre
Dame for outstanding scholastic achievement during the 2001 spring
semester. The dean’s list recognizes students with a 3.4 or higher
grade-point average during the past semester. Henze will be a senior in
the university’s College of Arts and Letters, majoring in pre-law. . . .
Sophomore undeclared engineering student Douglas M. Dukes of Costa Mesa
was named to the dean’s list for the 2001 spring semester at Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. To qualify for the dean’s list at
Rensselaer, students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher
and have nothing less than a C grade. . . . J.E.T. Rutter was elected
president of the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum board of trustees. The
Newport Beach resident has been involved with the museum since its
beginning in 1985, the year he retired. A boating and sailing enthusiast,
Rutter is also a member of Newport Harbor Yacht Club. . . . Samantha
Broderick of Costa Mesa landed the leading lady role of Virginia in the
musical “The Canterville Ghost” by the group Performance Riverside. In
addition to her stage work, Broderick has been cast as the lead in an
independent film titled “Enigma.” . . . Newport Beach-based technology
services firm inhouseIT has hired Britton Jasper to serve as the
company’s public relations director. Jasper will work alongside the
director of business development and with local media to expand the
company’s awareness in the public, as well as its client base.
