Winds whip through Laguna, no damage reported

Share

High winds and huge swells with white-capped waves turned Laguna Beach beaches into wind tunnels and tore shingles off of some roofs downtown on Wednesday, after a fast-moving, cold rainstorm socked parts of the area overnight.

The blustery conditions didn’t stop holiday visitors from flocking to Main Beach, with some hardy souls even venturing into the frigid, wind-whipped waters.

The Laguna Beach Fire Department reported no called-in reports of damage or injuries in Wednesday’s winds, however.

By Thursday morning, winds and waters were calmer, but the National Weather Service continued its high-surf advisory in effect through 2 p.m. today.
