Art lovers to gain insight

Share

The Sawdust Art Festival will hold its 16th annual Art Studio Tour day from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

During the event, art lovers are given the opportunity to view the studios of local artists, talk with them about their art and watch them create new works. Artwork is also often available for purchase at the artists’ studios.

Artists participating in the event create everything from dichroic glass jewelry to paintings to ceramics.

The day begins with a morning reception featuring mimosas, coffee, baked good and fresh fruit. A gourmet “to-go” lunch is available for $12.

Visitors are then welcome to tour studios at their own pace on climate-controlled motor coaches which stop near clusters of studios. Docents will be stationed on the coaches, which depart from the Sawdust every 30 minutes, to make suggestions and give information on artists.

At the end of the day, an evening reception is held on the grounds, where wine and hors d’oeuvres are available while visitors listen to the sounds of a classical quartet.

Tickets are $65 per person, and include transportation and both receptions; space is limited. For information, call (949) 494-3030.
