It’s a boat show weekend

The 34th Annual Newport Beach Boat Show opened Wednesday with hundreds of top-of-the-line boats, yachts and other water craft. Called the largest and oldest in-water boat show in the Western U.S., the show kicked off with a ceremony honoring locals who served aboard the U.S. battleship Oklahoma before the show opened at noon.

Show organizers recognized Warren Lovrien of Placentia, Mark Hattan of Orange, Max Essery of Santa Ana, and Clifford Bundy of Rancho Santa Fe, who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor more than 65 years ago.

The show will continue through Sunday at the Lido Marina Village, at 3424 Via Oporto. A display of 320 vessels, including multi-million-dollar, luxury mega-yachts, and many new models made their first appearance at the show.
