Estancia 20, Laguna Beach 2LAGUNA BEACH — Nicole Amaya went three for four with five RBIs and a grand slam in the Eagles’ Pacific Coast League, mercy-rule win on Wednesday.

Hailey Whitney was three for four with four RBIs to help Estancia (11-6, 2-0 in league) score its most runs of the season. She hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Amy Hartwell was three for five and Kiele Brown had two hits, a run scored and four RBIs. Brown had a two-run home run in the third inning, her third homer of the season.

Estancia pitcher Josie Flores improved to 9-3 and threw her third one-hitter in the past four games, which has included a no-hitter, as well. The Eagles face cross-town rival Costa Mesa Friday at 6 p.m. at TeWinkle Park.

BOYS’ GOLF

University High TournamentIRVINE — Corona del Mar High sophomore Camden Nicholson shot five-over-par 77 and won after a card-off ruling named him first place out of three who tied for the top spot at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course Wednesday.

A card-off is the best score on hole No. 18, but since there was still a tie, the golfer who had the best total score from holes 16, 17 and 18 won. Battling high winds, Nicholson birdied the final two holes to give him the victory, Corona del Mar Coach Mike Starkweather said. His score also helped the Sea Kings to a sixth-place finish at 449. El Toro, 401, won the tournament.

Taylor Keddington (82), Josh Starnes (92), Alex Ludlow (99) and Brett Jones (99) also scored for Corona del Mar, which plays against Laguna Hills today at Newport Beach Country Club.

Estancia 205, Laguna Beach 214SAN CLEMENTE — The Eagles clinched the Orange Coast League dual meet title with the win Wednesday at San Clemente Golf Course.

Storm Hagen was medalist for Estancia (15-4, 10-0 in league) with a three-over-par 39. Andrew Ayala (41), Pat Flannery (41), Kyle Jones (42) and Drew Bertoni (42) also scored for the Eagles.

Estancia plays host to Ocean View on Monday at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club.

St. Margaret’s 212, Sage Hill 230NEWPORT BEACH — Steve Choi led the Lightning with a four-over-par 40, which was second overall in the Academy League match for first place at Big Canyon Country Club Wednesday.

Ryan Babbush (43), James Chai (47), Geoff Grant (50) and Steven Grant (50) also scored for Sage Hill (13-3, 9-2 in league). St. Margaret’s improved to 10-4, 10-0.

The Lightning face Saddleback Valley Christian on Tuesday at San Juan Hills Country Club.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Newport Harbor 10,NEWPORT HARBOR — Spencer Baratto and Sean Thompson scored two goals each to help lead the Sailors to the Sunset League win Wednesday.

Los Alamitos 5

Eric Dobson and Ryan Hanrahan each had one goal and two assists. Tommy Hanrahan and Cory Hames added one goal and one assist each to help Newport Harbor (7-3, 5-1 in league) avenge an 8-7, triple-overtime loss to Los Alamitos on March 21.

The Sailors face Back Bay rival Corona del Mar on Friday at Peninsula Park and will then play against Avalon on Tuesday for the league title.

BASEBALL

Estancia 11, Los Amigos 7FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Trevor McDonald, Tim Morley and Troy McClanahan had two hits and two RBIs each to help the Eagles surpass last year’s win total with their nonleague victory Wednesday.

Blake Pinto added two hits and one RBI, while Sam Trancoso also had two hits for Estancia (8-13), which plays host to Calvary Chapel on Tuesday.
