TONIGHT AT THE FILM FEST

The Newport Beach Film Festival kicks off tonight. Here’s what’s happening.

A coming-of-age film starring William Hurt and Rita Wilson will screen at 7:30 p.m. at Edwards Big Newport, 300 Newport Center Drive.

The official launch of the film festival will take place immediately after the screening. It runs from 10 p.m. to midnight in the courtyard outside Bloomingdale’s at Fashion Island. The event will include food from 15 local restaurants, a bar by Level Vodka, Karl Strauss Beer, and W.J. Deutsch and Sons Wines, as well as a fashion show and silent auction benefiting the Filmmaker Scholarship Fund.
