Woman’s Club art show continues

The Woman’s Club’s sixth annual Women Artists’ Art Auction, Show and Sale will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on April 22 at the Woman’s Club, 286 St. Ann’s Drive.

The event showcases the talent of Laguna Beach women artists; attendance is free, and refreshments will be available.

All artwork is one-of-a-kind, and will include paintings, jewelry, collage, photography, sculpture, quilts, fabric art and decorative items.

There will also be a silent auction of works from each artist that will support the Woman’s Club.

Harpsichordist, singer to appear

Harpsichordist Eric Kinsley and counter-tenor Don Krim will perform at 3 p.m. May 5 in a free First Sundays concert at Laguna College of Art & Design.

Kinsley holds a doctorate of music from the Manhattan School of Music and teaches at Southwestern Academy and California Lutheran University. Krim specializes in early music.

High school dancers bring ‘Alice’ to town

The Laguna Beach Dance Company will present “Alice,” a contemporary interpretation of the Lewis Carroll stories “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass,” from May 2 to 5 at the Artists’ Theatre, 625 Park Ave.

Performances by the high school dance troupe are at 7:30 p.m. nightly, with a 2 p.m. matinee on May 5.

LOCA hosts tide-pool workshops

Laguna Outreach for Community Arts will host tide-pool explorations with Ocean Laguna Foundation docents, followed by hands-on watercolor art workshops taught by local artists, beginning this weekend.

Participants will learn about tide-pool ecology and create a watercolor journal to capture their experiences. The workshops will be offered on April 21 and 22; May 19 and 20 and Oct. 6 and 7 at Treasure Island Park. Each session is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Class admission includes a watercolor journal, art supplies, postcards, a tote bag, refreshments and more.

Class size is limited; sessions are $65 per adult and $35 per child.

Burgess plans one-woman show

No Square Theatre will present Bree Burgess Rosen in a first-ever, one-woman night of performance, “Concerto d’Bree,” on May 5 at the Laguna Beach Woman’s Club.

Burgess Rosen will perform Broadway hits, songs from past “Lagunatics” shows and more, with special guests.

The show will be emceed by comedienne Lynn Epstein.

The evening includes wine, martinis, hors d’oeuvres and desserts.

A reception will be held at 7 p.m., with an 8 p.m. curtain.
