Pop Warner football signups are Saturday

South Coast Pop Warner Football is accepting football player and cheerleader registration for its 2007 fall season.

The league is open to youth ages 5 to 15. Applications for coaching and board member positions also are being accepted.

Registration will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart located at 951 Avenida Pico on San Clemente.

South Coast Pop Warner Football is an official Positive Coaching Alliance Local Partner.

City tennis tournament begins this weekend

The first day of play in the Laguna Beach Tennis Tournament is Saturday at Alta Laguna Park.

The opening weekend includes play on Sunday, as well, as the tournament kicks off its 50th year of competition.

The tournament concludes with action the weekend of April 28 and 29.

Events include men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed 2.0 through Open play. A doubles event that pairs a young player with an adult will also be held.

The deadline for player and team entries closed on April 6, but late entries still might be accepted but are not guaranteed a spot in the tournament.

Singles play entry is $30 per player and doubles play $40 per pair. Payment should be sent to City of Laguna Beach, Tennis Tournament, Laguna Beach Community Services Dept., 515 Forest Avenue, 92651.

Entry forms are available at courts in Laguna Beach, the Community Services Dept., and by request at allcourttennis@hotmail.com.
