A man wanted on two warrants was arrested this morning after a four-hour standoff with a Huntington Beach police SWAT team, police said.
Gene Anthony Franklin, 32, who was arrested at about 5 a.m., was being held on a warrant for suspicion of forgery issued by Glendora police and a warrant for suspicion of resisting arrest issued by Baldwin Park police, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Terry Lindsey.
Detectives dropped by the 15000 block of Cambay Lane at 9:30 p.m. Thursday to look for Franklin, Lindsey said. They saw the suspect drive up to the home with his daughter, he said.
Police contacted Franklin by telephone in the house, but he would not come out, Lindsey said.
Police then surrounded the building, called in SWAT officers and crisis negotiation team at about 12:30 a.m., and continued to phoned Franklin inside the house, Lindsey said. After the man repeatedly refused to surrender, the team entered the building, took the girl to a safe place and arrested Franklin, he added. The man was not armed, he said.
The Cambay Lane address is Franklin’s last known address, and detectives had seen him there several times, Lindsey said.
