Costa Mesa 86,Costa Mesa 80,COSTA MESA — Mustang senior Danielle Morton set a Costa Mesa High girls’ triple jump school record of 35 feet, 1 inch as both Mesa teams posted convincing Orange Coast League wins Thursday at OCC.

Morton also won the long jump for the Mustang girls (2-0 in league), and sophomore Teagan LaBare took the 100 meters in a personal-record time of 12.82 seconds. Sophomore Ally Krikorian also PR’ed in the 200 meters (27.12), as did freshman Alysia Werdel in winning the shot put (31-3 3/4 ).

For the Costa Mesa boys (2-0 in league), sophomore Antwon Byrd went under 11 seconds for the first time in the 100 meters, finishing in 10.9. Senior Asa Hawks won the 200 and 400 meters, senior Mitch Friedmann ran a personal-record in winning the 3,200 meters (10:52.4) and Steven Nguyen jumped a personal-best length of 18-9 to win the long jump.

Danny O’Neil, the No. 3 singles player, won all three of this sets for Estancia (11-5, 6-1 in league), which is tied for first place with Laguna Beach in league. The Eagles play host to Laguna Beach Monday at 3 p.m.

Corona del Mar 14, Laguna Hills 4CORONA DEL MAR — Fabian Matthews and Dustin Hladek, playing in a match together for the first time since winning the CIF doubles championship last May, swept three sets for the Sea Kings in their Pacific Coast League win at CdM.

Brent Pham swept his three sets at No. 2 singles for CdM (15-1, 6-0 in league), which has a big league match Tuesday at University. Uni is ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division I, while CdM is No. 4.

Matthews and Hladek are also gearing up for playing doubles together in the Ojai Invitational, which begins April 26.

Sage Hill Coach A.G. Longoria said it was the only the second time in school history a doubles team has achieved the feat. Alex Koberle and Karam Sethi swept in singles for the Lightning (7-9, 7-1 in league), who are ranked No. 7 in CIF Southern Section Division IV.

Los Alamitos def.NEWPORT BEACH — Weston Dunlap led the Sailors with 19 kills, but the Griffins won the Sunset League match, 25-18, 25-22, 25-27, 25-21, Thursday.

Kyle Caldwell finished with 29 assists, 10 kills, four blocks and one ace for the Sailors (12-10, 3-3 in league). Mark Liebermann had five aces and five kills, Tucker Peleuses six kills and Max Volz five kills for Newport Harbor, which opens with Harvard-Westlake today at 4:15 p.m. in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions.

Andrew Dorne placed second for the Lightning (2-0 in league) in the 200 individual medley at 2:08.6, which is a CIF automatic qualifying time.
