ARTS COMMISSION WRAP-UP

The following is from the Aug. 27 meeting of the Laguna Beach Arts Commission.

Upcoming meeting rescheduled

The commission’s Sept. 10 regular meeting was moved to Sept. 17 due to scheduling conflicts.

Bench site selected

The commission selected a preferred location for an artist-designed bench near the Festival of Arts — between the Festival and the Laguna Playhouse — as part of a three-bench competition, with a bench to be placed in front of each summer festival.

The commission is seeking the Festival’s input before approving the competition guidelines at its Sept. 17 meeting.

Blake to judge art competition

Laguna Beach gallery owner Peter Blake was approved to be the adjudicator for the 2007 Juried Fine Art Competition, which will be at City Hall.

Previously named adjudicator Nicholas Raynolds canceled due to a scheduling conflict. Blake said he will not require an honorarium.
