Cyclist struck on Laguna Canyon Road

A woman bicyclist riding in the bike lane on Laguna Canyon Road east of the 73 Toll Road was struck and seriously injured by a pickup truck at about 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1 Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Bob Rahaeuser said.

The driver and an occupant of the truck also sustained serious injuries and all were taken to Mission Hospital trauma center, Rahaeuser said.

“The injuries were serious but not life-threatening,” Rahaeuser said.

The cyclist was hit when the truck, heading out of Laguna, veered into the bicycle lane for an unknown reason, and then careened into a ravine.

The accident is under investigation.
