MONTEBELLO — Senior shortstop Ryan Redding went four for four with two runs batted in and a triple for the Eagles in a Costa Mesa bracket consolation game in the Newport Elks Tournament Wednesday.

The game was stopped in the fifth inning because of the mercy rule. Estancia sophomore pitcher Marc DeFrenza went four innings, allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out four to earn his first win.

Sophomore utility player Ryan Boselo went three for three and scored three times for Estancia (2-2), which plays in a consolation game at Saddleback Friday at 3 p.m.

ANAHEIM — Sophomore pitcher Tyler Peterson went the distance for the Mustangs, striking out five and walking none in the Costa Mesa bracket semifinal game at the Newport Elks Tournament Wednesday.

Senior Gabe Sanchez singled and scored a run for Costa Mesa (3-1), which will play in the third-place game Friday at 3 p.m.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — The Sea Kings rolled to victory in five Wednesday afternoon as senior Jeff Carlson led with 16 kills.

CdM (2-0) won, 15-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-19, 17-15 despite committing 45 unforced errors. Junior middle blocker Dylan Davis had eight kills and three blocks, while senior middle blocker Gus Ellis had 12 kills and four blocks. Senior libero Spencer Brown had 27 digs. Junior setter Connor Bannan had 55 assists.

Tony Ciarelli had 31 kills for Huntington Beach.

SANTA ANA — Newport Harbor sophomore Travis Russell shared the medalist honors with Dana Hills Gus Altuzarra as each shot a two-over-par 38 during nonleague action at Santa Ana Country Club Wednesday.

The Sailors (4-1) lost for the first time this season. Senior Chase Behr shot a 39, followed by junior Tad Doolin (40), senior Steve Stoneman (42) and sophomore Mychael Clark (42).

IRVINE — Sage Hill split results Wednesday, taking a loss to Fairmont Prep after beating JSerra at San Joaquin Hills golf course.

James Chi was the medalist against JSerra after shooting 40 on the par 36 course, his lowest career score. Steve Lim was the medalist for Fairmont Prep. He shot 36.

Mac Mace and Stephen Grant shot 44 for the Lightning (1-3), while Steve Choi (47), Jarred Hoffman (47), and Alec Maliwang (49) all added scores.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Junior Dave Kidushim scored three goals and his older brother, senior Mike Kidushim, added two goals as the Sea Kings on Wednesday improved to 3-0 in nonleague action.
