MORAGA, Calif. — Tony Azevedo scored three goals as the United States senior men’s national water polo team defeated Australia, 6-4, at Campolindo High on Saturday night.

Former Corona del Mar High and Cal standout John Mann scored a goal for Team USA, which led throughout the game by as many as four goals.

Former UC Irvine star Ryan Bailey drew a five-meter penalty shot, which Azevedo converted.

Team USA, which also split a pair of games with Croatia in recent weeks, will play Australia again today at 4 p.m. at Dos Pueblos High in Goleta.

The series with the Australians concludes on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Cal Lutheran University.

The team is continuing preparations for this summer’s Olympics in China.
