Susi Q senior center opening Feb. 2

The seniors will move into their new Susi Q Senior Center on Third Street throughout January, and plan to be open for business Feb. 2, said spokesman Chris Quilter.

All scheduled activities, including the Lunch Bunch meal program, will continue at Legion Hall through January.

A grand opening will be at the Senior/Community Center on Third Street from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 31.

Quilter said that everything at the Susi Q will be new, except for some computer equipment. The new furnishings are scheduled to be delivered in time for the grand opening.

Seniors farewell tribute to Legion Hall

Laguna Beach Seniors Inc. will say a musical farewell to its longtime home at the American Legion Hall, 384 Legion St., with a special cello concert at 11 a.m. Jan. 23.

The concert features world-famous cellist Lynn Harrell, presented by the Laguna Beach Music Festival a project of Laguna Beach Live!

The performance is free to all friends and supporters of the Laguna Beach Senior Center. The concert is free but space is limited and reservations are required, by calling (949) 497-2441.

Registration for adult classes begins

The city of Laguna Beach Senior Services, in collaboration with the Emeritus Institute at Irvine Valley College, will provide courses of interest and value to older adults at convenient off-campus sites. Spring class will begin Monday and run through the week of May 18.

Many of these classes will transition to the new Laguna Beach Community Center at 380 Third St. in February.

Spring classes include: Yoga; Introduction to the Short Story; Cooking for 1 or 2; Watercolor; Body & Brain Fitness; Pilates; Qi Gong; Film Genres; and Law for the Layman.

Aquatic Fitness is available two days a week at the Community Pool. Beginning in March new classes include: Introduction to Computers; Introduction to the Internet and Latin Aerobics.
