BRIEFLY IN WORSHIP

Redemption Church opens in Laguna

A new church community has begun in Laguna Beach. Redemption Church now meets at 9 a.m. every Sunday in the Boys & Girls Club next to the Sawdust Festival. A welcoming and loving group of people, this nondenominational church seeks to explore what it means to follow Jesus Christ in today’s world. Before launching publicly, the start-up group met in a house for six months while looking for a place to worship and to figure out what it could do to make a difference in the community.

Pastor Phil Wood spent the last six years ministering to families and youth at the Shoreline Church in San Clemente while commuting to Fuller Seminary in Pasadena pursuing his master’s in divinity degree. Wood has felt a passion and leading toward Church Planting for nearly 10 years, and after being ordained, blessed and sent out to plant a new church, he and his family moved to Laguna Beach last summer to join the community.
