UCSD welcomes students to weeklong science camp

Local students Marisa Poveda and Pauline Vuong of Sowers Middle School and Eva Alvarez of Dwyer Middle School have been selected to get a preview of college life while learning that science can be fun at the Tech Trek Science Camp for Girls, a summer program for seventh-grade girls sponsored by the American Assn. of University Women of California.

The students will live on the campus of University of California at San Diego for a week in July, attending classes featuring hands-on experiments. Women who are professionals in the fields of science and technology will be guest presenters. Highlighting the activities will be field trips to a planetarium or to study marine biology.
