Rededication celebration

Laguna Presbyterian Church will celebrate returning to the newly restored Sanctuary during the 8:30 and 10 a.m. Sunday worship services.

A procession led by a bagpiper, a prayer from Iona Abbey in Scotland, celebrating their Scottish heritage, and portions of the original dedication service 84 years ago will be included in an intergenerational service of thanksgiving.

The completed project, begun 2 1/2 years ago, protects the historic building from earthquakes and water intrusion, expands the youth center, features a world class sound system, and restores its Spanish Mission Style interior.

Church collects funds for Haiti

Neighborhood Congregational Church will be collecting donations for a Haitian Relief Fund over the next few weeks. Checks may be made out to NCC with Haitian Relief Fund in the memo.

Donations will support immediate and long-term relief in the quake-devastated country.

Kabbalah of the environment

The holiday of Tu Bshvat, known as Jewish Arbor Day, or the New Year for Trees, will be the topic of a guest speaker at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chabad Jewish Center.

Rabbi Menachem Rodal of Los Angeles will discuss the mysteries and beauty of the universe with special emphasis on lessons from the trees.

Participants will also sample flavors of the Seven Species of the Land of Israel.
