The Irvine Health Foundation on Tuesday will award $150,000 to Costa Mesa’s Share Our Selves at the Pacific Club in Irvine.

The award is given to organizations that demonstrate “extraordinary success, creativity and innovation in promoting health and wellness” as well as availability and accessibility of services.

“The organizations receiving these recognitions serve nearly 100,000 residents annually,” Ed Kacic, president and CEO of the Irvine Health Foundation, said in a statement. “They are developing truly inventive healthcare models for the county and attracting hundreds of medical and professional volunteers to provide services to the uninsured.”

Share Our Selves provides free healthcare and social services to those in need, such as dental, legal and educational resources. SOS plans to partner with the California Center for Connected Health and the UCI Medical Center to offer more specialty services.

This is the first year for the Irvine Health Foundation prize, which totals $250,000.

Two other Orange County nonprofits received awards: MOMS Orange County (Santa Ana) and Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County (Garden Grove) each won $50,000.
