Accused man posts $1-million bail

A Dana Point man accused of committing a New Year’s Day Costa Mesa homicide is out of jail after posting the $1-million bail, Orange County Sheriff’s Department records show.

Adam Randy Baker, 23, is accused of stabbing a Mission Viejo man to death and wounding his friend during a confrontation outside the Orange County/Costa Mesa Hilton hotel at about 2 a.m. on Jan. 1. Baker was released from jail just before 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said Baker watched the men and their friends as they exited the NYC OC party at the hotel, and flicked a cigarette at them. Baker’s accused of pushing then slashing and stabbing Robert Sickles, 27, of Mission Viejo, fatally. Police said Baker also stabbed Sickle’s friend, Brian McTeigue. McTeigue was treated at the hospital and released.

Baker is scheduled to appear at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach for a pre-trial hearing March 4.
