Witness: Man grabbed 6-year-old by neck, shoulder at Wahoo’s

COSTA MESA — A 22-year-old man grabbed a 6-year-old by his shoulder and neck at a Wahoo’s Fish Taco restaurant on Thursday before being arrested by police, according to an eye witness.

About 7:15 p.m., a man walked up to customers at the restaurant, 3000 Bristol St., near the Baker Street intersection, screaming in the faces of diners and breaking things, said witness Justina Tran.

Tran said she saw the man grab the boy before patrons detained him.

Police arrived about 10 minutes later and made an arrest, she said.

Matthew See of Costa Mesa was arrested in relation to the incident for being under the influence and annoying a child, but a report of the incident wasn’t written, according to Costa Mesa police Sgt. Bryan Wadkins.

Calls to Wahoo’s corporate offices were not immediately returned.
