Driver arrested after crashing into Coca-Cola truck

The southbound lanes of Newport Boulevard at Del Mar Avenue were closed until 10:15 a.m. Wednesday after an SUV hit a Coca-Cola delivery truck, according to Costa Mesa police.

A Toyota 4Runner collided with the rig, causing minor injuries to the truck's driver.

The SUV driver, 29-year-old Michael Conzelman of Santa Ana, appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and was arrested, said Costa Mesa Police Lt. Mark Manley.

Conzelman appeared to be hallucinating and was "confrontational" with police officers, Manley said. He was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana with minor bumps and bruises.

After receiving medical clearance, Conzelman was charged with felony DUI, in addition to assault and battery.
