Egloff, Edward
Age 85, a resident of Irvine, CA, died peacefully at his Regent’s Point home on Tuesday, November 22.
He was born March 23, 1926 in Washington, DC to Julius and Elizabeth Margot Egloff. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Julius and Elizabeth, and brother-in-law Henry Greene.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Suzanne P. Egloff. Their love story began in 1944 in San Diego where both served in the US Navy. They married in 1947 in Pasadena, CA. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, Judy Greene Iager, Gregory Greene, Julius Egloff, Sandra Egloff Wait, Marie Egloff Zurowski, Karen Egloff Wilkins, William Edward Egloff, and sister-in-law Cassandra Sue Egloff. He leaves countless close friends and his church family.
He graduated from Eastern High School and George Washington University in Washington, DC. Upon college graduation Ed worked a short time in DC before moving to Los Angeles in 1951 to work for McDonnell Douglas. He and his mentor Robert Graper became successful business partners, establishing an industrial process furnace and oven manufacture and repair business in 1959. The Santa Fe Springs-based firm, Egloff and Graper Inc., remains in business today.
Ed and his wife were active members of Arcadia Presbyterian Church for 32 years where they enjoyed leading Youth and Young Married Study Groups. Upon retirement in 1982 Ed and his wife moved to Newport Beach and joined St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Ed was an active member and held leadership roles on the Church’s Building Committee and numerous Prayer and Study Groups. He was dedicated usher for over 20 years. In 2002 they moved to Regent’s Point in Irvine.
Interment will be private. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 8, at 1:30 pm at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (address below). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Seminarian Scholarship Fund, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Rd., Newport Beach, CA 92663, or to a charity of your choice.
