Conservancy honors Disneyland director

The Bolsa Chica Conservancy is honoring the Disneyland Resort and its director of environmental affairs, Frank De La Vara, with the 2011 Conservator of the Year award during a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

The event at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort Pacific Ballroom in Huntington Beach will highlight the organization and Vara’s leadership in promoting and implementing processes to reduce emission energy and water consumption, said the conservancy’s executive director, Grace Adams.

The organization is also honoring former Newport Beach Councilwoman Friends of Harbor, Beaches and Parks founder Jean Watt with the 2011 Friends of the Conservancy Award. Philip Smith, who was the organization’s second executive director, is also being awarded with the 2011 Chairman’s Award.
