Bicyclist dies after collision with BMW

A 79-year-old man died Feb. 29 after his bicycle collided with a BMW on Bolsa Avenue west of Able Lane, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The Westminster man was heading east on Bolsa when he was struck by a gold BMW sedan that was pulling out of a parking lot, said Lt. Mitch O'Brien.

The man sustained severe injuries. He was treated at the scene, then transferred to UCI Medical Center, where he later died.

The BMW driver, a 23-year-old Long Beach resident, was cooperative with police. He was not cited nor arrested, but the investigation is ongoing, O'Brien said.
