Missing Costa Mesa man found on Trabuco Canyon trail

A 78-year-old Costa Mesa man missing since Sunday was found sans his shoes on a Trabuco Canyon trail, police said.

Two mountain bikers found Vo Van Nguyen at Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park — about 21 miles from his home — on Wednesday morning, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

Nguyen appeared disoriented and had trouble communicating. He was wearing only one sock.

He was eventually taken to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, where he was treated for dehydration, police said.
