Mackenzie, Betsy Carpenter

Betsy passed away July 25, 2012 surrounded with love. Born Caroline Elizabeth Allen on May 18, 1927 in Whittier, California to Caroline Maple Allen and Bewley Allen, Betsy married Dr. Stewart Carpenter Jr. on October, 17, 1953 after which they lived in San Francisco before moving to Balboa Island in 1957. They had 5 sons, Nick, Terry, Stewart, Andy and Hadley before Stewart Jr. passing in 1971. Betsy remarried in January 1975 to James Bailey Mackenzie and with his sons Dave, Peter and daughter Lisa the Mackenzie/Carpenter Conglomeration was born. Betsy was an avid photographer, bead enthusiast as well as an active member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club and Angelitos de Oro. She is survived by her seven sons and one daughter, fourteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, brother John Allen and family. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 19th at 2:00 pm Pacific View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
