Coroner IDs killed pedestrian

A man who died after a vehicle struck him on East Coast Highway was identified Tuesday as 38-year-old David Daniel Yoak, according to the Orange County coroner's office.

Newport Beach police said a vehicle hit Yoak, a pedestrian, about 7:50 p.m. Saturday on East Coast Highway west of Reef Point Drive.

Yoak was taken in critical condition to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he succumbed to his injuries Sunday afternoon, according to the coroner and police.

Police did not cite or arrest the vehicle's driver following the crash.

The coroner was not able to find Yoak's current city of residence.
