Blood found outside van in Sunflower parking lot
Costa Mesa police spent several hours searching for a person who may have taken shelter in a van after an injury that left blood outside the vehicle, police said.
Police received a call of suspicious circumstances about 7 a.m. after someone saw a person exiting a van parked in a commercial parking lot where Sunflower Avenue dead ends near the San Diego (405) Freeway, according to a witness and police Lt. Bob Ciszek.
Police discovered blood outside the van and said it was possible an injured homeless person tried to take shelter from the rain.
Police were unable to find the person, Ciszek said.
