Police seek jewelry store robbery suspects

Police are seeking two men who allegedly robbed a Huntington Beach jewelry store using guns and ski masks, along with a woman who allegedly served as their getaway driver Wednesday afternoon.

At 12:43 p.m., the men entered Isabella’s Fine Jewelry at 16917 Algonquin St., Unit C and held employees at gunpoint while smashing display cases, according to a release from the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Lt. Chad Nichols said store employees apparently answered the door for the woman, after which the men came inside.

“If they think you look safe, they’ll buzz you into the store,” he said.

A call to the store Friday afternoon went unanswered.

The group fled with an undisclosed amount of jewelry in a dark 2011 Chrysler Town & Country minivan with Arizona license plates, according to the release. The vehicle was last seen heading west on Warner Avenue toward Pacific Coast Highway.

No one was hurt in the robbery, according to the release.

Nichols called the daylight robbery rare and said he can’t remember a similar one occurring in Huntington Beach.

“It’s not typical for us,” he said. “I don’t know about other areas, but I’m not aware of any other we’ve had recently like this.”

According to the store’s website, Isabella’s is a family-owned business that started in 1973 and manufactures its own jewelry. The store also carries Rolex watches and offers cash for gold.
