Money taken from library’s copy machine

Nearly $150 was reported stolen from the Laguna Beach Public Library’s copy machine.

An unknown suspect, or suspects, stole money out of the library’s copy machine sometime during the past three months, said police Sgt. Louise Callus in an email.

A library employee reported the petty theft at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, according to the dispatch log.

The suspect opened the cash box to the copy machine and took $149 in dollar bills, Callus said. The box was not forced open, so it is assumed the suspect used the key, which was not securely kept, she said.

The copy machine cash box was last emptied three months ago and it is unknown exactly when the crime occurred, Callus said.

There is no suspect information.
