Newport man charged with DUI after crash

Police arrested a Newport Beach man on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol Wednesday after an accident in Corona del Mar, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

An officer responded to a report of a single-car crash on East Coast Highway at Crystal Heights about 7:45 p.m. and

found a vehicle that had apparently crashed into the center divider and ended up facing the wrong direction, police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.

Police said they arrested Michael Koning, 32, who was booked for misdemeanor DUI.
