Man missing two years found in freezer

A man reported missing by his Laguna Beach family in 2011 was found inside a freezer in a Ventura public storage facility in June, Ventura police announced Wednesday in a news release.

Detectives found the body of Jeffrey Korber, who would have turned 60 on April 12, inside a working freezer at Ventura Mini Storage on June 28, Ventura police Cmdr. Darin Schindler said.

Schindler would not comment on the body’s condition, citing the ongoing investigation.

Detectives determined Korber was living with Mary “Francesca” Hannan, 66, and that the two had a dating relationship, according to the release.

Police investigators allege Ventura resident Michael Bresnak, 49, killed Korber at Hannan’s house in early 2011 and stored the body in the freezer at the public storage facility, the release said.

Bresnak has been in Ventura County Jail since June 28 for an unrelated probation violation, Schindler said.

Bresnak pleaded guilty in 2007 to felony sale and possession of a controlled substance, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department website said.

Hannan has not been arrested or charged, the release said.

Family members in Laguna Beach first reported Korber missing in July 2011 after they hadn’t heard from him in a few months, police said. He was last seen March 29, 2011, according to the National Missing Persons Database website.

Korber never lived in Laguna Beach, Laguna Beach police Capt. Jason Kravetz said in an email.

Laguna Beach police conducted an extensive missing person investigation into early 2012 but could not determine if a crime had taken place, Ventura police said.

Korber’s car, a 1991 Toyota Celica convertible, was found in a parking lot at Los Angeles International Airport, the Missing Persons Database said. The car was considered an abandoned vehicle and was towed and sold at auction, the website said.
