Police identify woman killed in hit-and-run

Huntington Beach police have identified the pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run accident involving a tractor trailer.

Touba Yomtoubian, 77, of Huntington Beach, died after being struck by the truck Tuesday afternoon, according to a statement by city police.

The accident occurred at Warner Avenue and Springdale Street at about 1:55 p.m., said police Lt. John Domingo.

Police found the tractor-trailer a short distance from the accident site and were questioning the driver, whose name has not been released. O'Brien said Wednesday that police are not arresting the driver.

The site of the hit-and-run is a busy intersection with signals. Police did not say if the woman was crossing the street when she was hit.

Yomtoubian was pronounced dead at the scene by Huntington Beach fire personnel, according to a statement.

In a separate incident Tuesday, a Huntington Beach man succumbed to his injuries after being involved in a traffic accident.

Ruben Cecilio, 75, was involved in a vehicle crash Monday at 1:17 p.m. at Garfield Avenue and Brookhurst Street, Domingo said. Cecilio was transported to UCI Medical Center, where he died the next day.

According to a statement from Huntington Beach police, Cecilio was making a turn to head southbound on Brookhurst when he hit another vehicle.

He received major injuries and was transported to UCI, while the other driver was transported to a local hospital for moderate injuries, according to the statement.

Authorities said no suspects have been cited or arrested.
