Lifeguard tryouts set

Tryouts for seasonal rookie and ocean lifeguards will be held at Laguna’s Main Beach on Feb. 22.

The physical testing portion will be conducted near the white tower, with sign-in beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Candidates must be ready to enter the water promptly at 9 a.m. Exceptions or late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

Candidates must complete a 1,000-meter swim in less than 20 minutes.

The top finishers will be invited to apply for the 2014 Seasonal and Rookie Ocean Lifeguard Academy. Additional tryouts may be held.

Each person must complete an online application, along with a physical testing and training waiver.

Follow the online application instructions located on the city’s website at https://www.lagunabeachcity.net.

Applications must be submitted online by 4 p.m. Thursday.
