A local Eagle Scout candidate is seeking volunteers to help with his rehabilitation project Sunday in Fairview Park.
Christian Redman, 15, is working to rehabilitate 1.5 acres of barren ground in the Costa Mesa park. Volunteers can come help out any time between 9 a.m. and sundown — or until the work is done, according to Redman's flier.
He plans to plant about 800 native species that will help the habitat for endangered species like the California gnatcatcher.
Donations are also accepted. Lunch will be provided.
Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toed shoes and jeans, and bring work gloves, buckets for watering and gardening equipment.
