College Roundup: UC Irvine men’s basketball blows out Life Pacific

Collin Welp had a game-high 18 points on seven-for-10 shooting, and the UC Irvine men’s basketball team routed Life Pacific 98-52 on Tuesday in a nonconference game at Bren Events Center.

Brad Greene added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Anteaters (2-1). Aiden Krause had a career-high 15 points and seven rebounds, and Eyassu Worku scored 12 points to go with seven assists.

UCI plays at Boise State on Friday at 6 p.m.

MEN’S SOCCER

Golden West 1, Santa Ana 1: Rigo Cuevas scored in the 90th minute to earn a draw for the visiting Rustlers on Tuesday in an Orange Empire Conference match.

First-place Golden West (8-2-9, 5-0-6 in conference) plays at second-place Fullerton (10-6-4, 6-3-2) in a regular-season finale on Friday at 3 p.m.

Orange Coast 4, Santiago Canyon 2: Takumi Taniguchi and Danny Vargas each produced a goal and two assists for the visiting Pirates in Tuesday’s Orange Empire Conference match.

Jesus Flores and Tino Varona also scored for third-place Orange Coast (11-3-5, 5-2-4 in conference), which plays at fourth-place Santa Ana (10-5-4, 4-3-4) on Friday at 3 p.m.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Santiago Canyon 8, Orange Coast 1: Delani Guyot scored for the host Pirates in an Orange Empire Conference match on Tuesday.

Orange Coast (6-12-3, 3-8-2 in conference) plays host to Santa Ana on Friday at 3 p.m.

Santa Ana 3, Golden West 0: The Rustlers dropped to 6-10-3 overall and 3-8-2 in the Orange Empire Conference after Tuesday’s match at home.

Golden West remains at home to face Fullerton on Friday at 3 p.m.
