Key Chargers: Sr. RB/OLB Mike Walters (110 carries for 538 yards and 16 TDs; four catches for 16 yards; one passing TD; 90 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles); Jr. QB; Braeden Boyles (105 of 179 passing for 1,718 yards, 20 TDs and seven INTs; 48 carries for 321 yards and three TDs); Sr. WR Cole Koffler (33 catches for 808 yards and 10 TDs); Sr. RB/SS Tanner Nelson (50 carries for 397 yards and five TDs; three catches for six yards and one TD; 35 tackles, three tackles for a loss and three punt blocks)

Breakdown: Edison (8-3) plays at No. 3-seeded La Habra (9-2) in a CIF Southern Section Division 3 quarterfinal on Friday … The Chargers will meet the Highlanders in the postseason for the second time in Jeff Grady’s three seasons as Edison’s head coach. In 2017, the teams squared off in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs, with the Chargers walking away with a 28-27 road victory in double overtime … Edison has scored 49 points per game over a four-game winning streak. Boyles threw for 337 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-27 win over Romoland Heritage in the first round … The Chargers will have to contend with one of the nation’s top defensive backs in Phillips III, who has committed to Ohio State.
