High School Roundup: Pacifica Christian O.C. boys’ basketball beats Linfield Christian

Judah Brown had 25 points and 11 rebounds as the Pacifica Christian Orange County boys’ basketball team beat Linfield Christian 79-61 on Saturday at the Rancho Christian Showcase in Temecula.

Josh Sims scored 12 points, and Charles Erving and Tanner Deal each added 11 points for Pacifica Christian (17-6). Houston Mallette had five points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

The Tritons host rival Fairmont Prep in a key San Joaquin League game Friday at 7 p.m.

WRESTLING

Ocean View qualified three wrestlers for the CIF Southern Section individual wrestling championships via their placement in the Golden West League finals on Saturday at Western High.

Raxel Ortiz (128 pounds) and Sergio Polo (285) both finished third in their respective weight classes.

On the girls’ side, Lupe Garcia was the runner-up at 145 pounds.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Edison 50, Newport Harbor 43: Taylor Fullbright paced the Chargers with 11 points on Saturday in a Sunset Conference crossover game at home.

Lainey Johnson added nine points and 10 rebounds for Edison (14-11). Noelle Duffey also had nine points and four steals.

Emma Coatsworth had a game-high 14 points for Newport Harbor (11-13). Emma Fults had 13 points and 15 rebounds, and Willa Rath also contributed 10 points and nine rebounds.

Fountain Valley 51, Marina 49: Zoe Ziegler hit the game-winning shot on the final possession for the host Barons on Saturday night in a Wave League game.

Ziegler finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Fountain Valley (14-11, 3-0). Madison Suekawa added 18 points and three steals off the bench, and Kat Luu also had seven points, four assists and three steals.

Marina fell to 6-18 overall and 2-1 in league.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Newport Harbor 16, Capistrano Valley 1: Sophia Stark scored three goals for the Sailors in Saturday’s nonleague game at Newport Harbor High.

Ashley Salem, Avery Montiel, Skylar Sepulveda, Makaelee Hansberger and Olivia Giolas each added two goals for Newport Harbor (15-5).
