High School Roundup: Edison, Pacifica Christian boys’ basketball to meet in CIF quarterfinals

Trey Wilborn scored 18 points for the Edison High School boys’ basketball team in a 75-57 home win over Wildomar Elsinore on Tuesday in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2A playoffs.

Tyler Hampton added 13 points for No. 2-seeded Edison (25-4), and Dylan Hugues scored eight points.

Edison will play at Pacifica Christian Orange County in the Division 2A quarterfinals on Friday night.

Pacifica Christian Orange County 63, Lakewood 51: Tanner Deal and Alex Stewart each had 13 points for the Tritons at home Tuesday in the second round of the Division 2A playoffs.

Riyaan Jiwani scored 12 points, and Parker Strauss had 11 points and 11 rebounds for Pacifica Christian (17-12), which has won seven straight games.

The Tritons host No. 2-seeded Edison on Friday.

Estancia 56, Moreno Valley Leadership Military Academy 47: Reef Johnson scored 16 points to lead the Eagles in the second round of the Division 5AA playoffs at home on Tuesday night.

Lewis Tate scored 15 points for Estancia (19-11), and Peter Sanchez added 11 points.

Estancia will play at No. 3-seeded Ontario Chaffey in a Division 5AA quarterfinal game Friday.

BASEBALL

Estancia 3, Lakewood Artesia 2: Tyler Humphries went three for four with two runs batted in to lead the visiting Eagles to a nonleague win on Tuesday.

Miles Moyer (1-0) threw a complete game, allowing six hits and two unearned runs, to pick up the win. Moyer struck out seven in the contest.

Trevor Scott also had two hits, a run scored and drove in one run for Estancia (3-0), which plays host to Bolsa Grande on Friday at 3 p.m.

SOFTBALL

Huntington Beach 6, San Clemente 1: Emma Francisco knocked in three runs for the Oilers in Tuesday’s season opener at Huntington Beach High School.

Zoe Prystajko recorded 15 strikeouts across six innings in the pitching circle for Huntington Beach. Sophia Knight also had a two-hit game.
