Sage Hill’s Chase Munger shares Academy League MVP in boys’ soccer

Sage Hill School senior Chase Munger was named the Academy League MVP in boys’ soccer for the 2017-18 season.

Sage Hill senior Sallar Tahbaz and sophomore Trevor Grant, and Brethren Christian senior Tristan Lund earned spots on the first team.

Munger, who split the MVP with Crean Lutheran junior Josh Yang, and Lund are repeat first-team selections.

Munger, Tahbaz and Grant led the Lightning (9-10-1, 7-4-1 in league) to a third-place finish in the league and the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs. Sage Hill exited in the first round with a 3-2 overtime loss at No. 3-seeded Oxnard Santa Clara.

The Warriors (1-14, 1-11) finished last in the league.

Sage Hill sophomore Emir Karabeg and freshmen Alvaro Corona and Micah Valadez, and Brethren Christian sophomore Seth Klassen received second-team recognition.
