Golden West Swim Club places 12th

The Golden West Swim Club finished the SCS Younger Junior Olympics on Sunday with a 12th-place finish in the 64-team event at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach.

Golden West scored 169 points in the three-day event that began Friday.

Sydney Rouse scored 78 points for Golden West by placing in six events. She won the 10-and-Under 50-yard backstroke and was 11th in the 10U 200-individual medley Saturday, seventh in the 10U 100-IM, second in the 10U 50-back and third in the 10U 50-free Friday and 10th in the 10U 100-free Sunday.

Golden West Swim Club competes today at the SCS Older Junior Olympic Championships at Belmont Plaza.

Boys’ Basketball

Pacific Coast Hoops, South Huntington Beach’s youth basketball league, held its fifth annual 3-on-3 tournament Sunday at Edison High. More than 25 teams from Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and San Clemente, competed at the event.

In the 3rd/4th grade championship game, Cole Power hit the winning shot in overtime to lift the Warriors past the Eliminators .

The 5th/6th grade championship was won by the Dougies, ( who beat the Dragons on Randall Walker’s last-second shot. The San Clemente Tritons beat the HB Hawks to win the 7th/8th grade title.
