Daman Starring and Derrick Strings had 11 points apiece for UCI (11-17).

UCI forced 16 turnovers and committed just 11, but shot 38.3% from the field and lost the rebounding battle, 46-28. UCI never led.

Senior Darren Moore, UCI’s leading scorer at 17 per game, had a season-low four points. He was two of seven from the field in 20 minutes.

“We are an 11-17 team and I believe we should be better,” UCI Coach Russell Turner said afterward. “We have to find a way to redefine ourselves for the remainder of the season.”

UCI plays host to UC Davis on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Nevada is 11-15.
