Estancia shut out in second round

LOS ANGELES — Estancia ended its season at 14-5-4 after losing the CIF Southern Section Division IV second-round game Tuesday.

No. 2 seeded Brentwood (19-1-2), also the Eagles and the Alpha League champion, scored in the 30th minute and again in the 60th minute, both on corner kicks.

“We had a couple scoring chances, but nothing as threatening as theirs,” said Estancia Coach Jessica Gatica, whose team won the Orange Coast League title. “It was a well-fought game. Both sides competed hard, but they were able to capitalize on their scoring chances.

“If we had a perfect game I think we would be able to squeeze some in there. But we didn’t play a perfect game.”
