UC Irvine junior Charles Jock has been named the Big West Conference Athlete of the Week in men's track for the second straight week.
Jock won the 800 meters with a meet-record time of 1 minute, 47.18 seconds in the Cal/Nevada Championships Sunday at Claremont. His time, which is the fastest collegiate mark in the nation this year, broke the previous meet record of 1:47.46 which was set by Jock a year ago.
He has won the 800 three consecutive years at the Cal/Nevada meet and was named Athlete of the Meet for the second straight year.
Jock also anchored UCI's 4x400 relay that finished second with a time of 3:14.87 Sunday.
This is the fifth time in his career that Jock has earned the Big West's weekly honor.
