Jock Big West Athlete of Week again

UC Irvine junior Charles Jock has been named the Big West Conference Athlete of the Week in men’s track for the second straight week.

Jock won the 800 meters with a meet-record time of 1 minute, 47.18 seconds in the Cal/Nevada Championships Sunday at Claremont. His time, which is the fastest collegiate mark in the nation this year, broke the previous meet record of 1:47.46 which was set by Jock a year ago.

He has won the 800 three consecutive years at the Cal/Nevada meet and was named Athlete of the Meet for the second straight year.

Jock also anchored UCI’s 4x400 relay that finished second with a time of 3:14.87 Sunday.

This is the fifth time in his career that Jock has earned the Big West’s weekly honor.
