High School Roundup: Eagles rally for win

COSTA MESA — Chris Gomez scored two goals to help the Eagles overcome a 2-1 deficit and win the Orange Coast League game Thursday at Jim Scott Stadium.

Vicente Lopez had a goal and an assist, Sean Bjelland scored a goal and Chris Montillo, Carlos Moreno and Carlos Barrios had an assist each for Estancia, which finished second in league.

Eagles' goalie Alex Plata made five saves.


Sage Hill 3, Crean Lutheran 0

IRVINE — Sophomore Kavi Sakraney had a goal an assist for the Lightning, who finished second in the Academy League Thursday.

Freshman Nikolai Sadeghi had two assists, while sophomores Will Bruns and Dakshin Jandhyala added two goals each for Sage Hill (9-5-0, 8-2-0 in league).

Senior Brandon Zelner stood out on defense for the Lightning.



Corona del Mar 6, Woodbridge 0

CORONA DEL MAR — Ally Brahs scored two goals for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League finale Thursday.

Annie Alvarado, Alex Mamatas, Monica Venturini and Miranda Stiver added one goal each for CdM (20-1-2, 9-0-1 in league), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division I.

The playoff pairings for soccer will be released Monday.


Newport Harbor 1, Fountain Valley 0

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Junior Jill Messersmith scored in the 24th minute off a free kick for the Sailors in the Sunset League finale Thursday.

Senior goalie Meghan Kay shut down the Barons with six saves. Newport Harbor (8-10-3, 6-3-1 in league) awaits the CIF playoff pairings, which will be released Monday.



Fountain Valley 49, Newport Harbor 38

NEWPORT BEACH — Chance Beauchamp scored 23 points, with seven three-pointers, for the Sailors in the Sunset League finale Thursday.



Fountain Valley 56, Newport Harbor 28

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Kasey Thompson had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the Sailors in the Sunset League finale Thursday.

Bela Raimondi (four rebounds) and Jennifer Raya had four points each for Newport Harbor (9-17, 0-10 in league).


Northwood 55, Corona del Mar 30

IRVINE — Melanie de Arakal had eight points and seven rebounds for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Wednesday.

Amy Hoogenboom had five points and six rebounds for CdM (10-16, 1-9 in league), which will apply for an at-large bid in the CIF Southern Section Division 3A playoffs.
