College Roundup: UCI rallies to beat Dartmouth

UC Irvine 5, Dartmouth 4

IRVINE — Senior Jordan Fox singled in a run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to cap a two-run rally for the host Anteaters in the opener of a three-game nonconference series Thursday.

After Kris Paulino and Jerry McClanahan walked to start the ninth, D.J. Crumlich, who was four for four, advanced them with a sacrifice bunt.

Tommy Reyes drove in the tying run with a sacrifice fly to set the stage for Fox.

Fox was two for five and Reyes drove in two runs.

Christian Ramirez and Dillon Moyer were two for four for UCI, for which Jimmy Litchfield pitched 3 2/3 scoreless relief innings to earn the win.

Litchfield struck out three, allowed two hits and did not walk a batter.

UCI is 12-8 and Dartmouth is 2-8.

MEN’S TENNIS

Orange Coast 9, Fullerton 0

FULLERTON — Pat Wright (No. 1) and Rex Miller (No. 2) earned wins in singles for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match Thursday.

Wright and Miller won at No. 1 doubles, while Derek Wong and Dillon Nguyen won at No. 2 doubles for OCC (4-9, 3-4 in conference).

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Orange Coast 6, Fullerton 3

COSTA MESA — Nicole Pham, Remi Sutton and Claire Crossman won in singles and doubles for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match Thursday.

Pham did not lose a game at No. 4 singles and teamed with Crossman to win at No. 3 doubles.

Crossman won 12 of 13 games at No. 6 singles for OCC (8-3, 6-1 in conference).
