HUNTINGTON BEACH — Sarah Gomez had two goals and two assists for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

Cindy Rubio added two goals, while Jessica Amaral, Emma Pridmore and Sarah MacArthur scored one goal each. MacArthur also had two assist to help OCC improve to 16-3, 12-3 in conference.

The Pirates will finish off the regular season on Friday at home against Irvine Valley at 3 p.m.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Orange Coast def. Santa Ana

COSTA MESA — Hayley Martin had five goals to help the Pirates score a 25-11, 25-11, 25-10 Orange Empire Conference win Wednesday.

Isabel Emrich, Angela Johnson and Leslie Stiner added four kills each for OCC (17-1, 11-1 in conference).

Santa Ana is 2-17, 0-12.

The Pirates will play at home on Friday against Cypress at 7 p.m.

MEN’S GOLF

Warrior Wave Intercollegiate

PRINCEVILLE, Hawaii — UC Irvine placed third in the event that concluded Wednesday at Makai Golf Club.

The Anteaters shot even-par as a team Wednesday and finished with a 54-hole total of six-under-par 858 to record their top showing of the fall.

Baylor won the 16-team tournament at 846 and North Carolina State was second at 853.

Albin Choi from North Carolina State earned medalist honors with a three-round score of 10-under 206, including a three-under 69 in the final round.

UCI senior Michael Yang shot his third consecutive round of two-under 70 and finished fourth at 210 for his top showing of the season.

Sophomore Pete Fernandez fired a three-under 69 in the final round and placed eighth at 212 for his second top-10 finish of the fall.

Juniors Allan Jun and Travis Russell each shot 75 Wednesday and tied for 35th place at 222. Freshman Jacob Schulze had a final-round 74 and placed 50th at 224.

Coach Paul Smolinski’s UCI squad is idle from competition until Feb. 11-12 when the ‘Eaters play their first tournament of 2013 in The Farms Collegiate Invitational at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
