McNealy earned all-tournament team honors. He scored all five Anteater points in the extra session and his three-point play with 1:20 left gave UCI a 63-61 lead.

Darius Gatson’s basket with 13 seconds left in overtime and a free throw by him with 6.3 seconds remaining lifted Sam Houston State to the win. UCI freshman Alex Young’s three-point attempt from the left side as the clock wound down fell short.

Senior Adam Folker had 13 rebounds along with seven points for the Anteaters, and sophomore Will Davis tied his career high with 12 boards and had six points and four blocked shots.

UCI, which battled back from a 15-4 deficit nine minutes into the game, hit just 11 of 25 free throws in the game, including 8 of 19 in the second half.

Sam Houston State is 3-3.

UCI travels to Malibu to face Pepperdine Saturday night at 7.
