High School Roundup: Umansky scores nine goals in two losses

SANTA ANA — Estancia opened the season with two losses Monday.

The Eagles (0-2) first lost to Cypress, 10-5. Eileen Umansky scored four goals and goalie Alexis Paul made 12 saves.

Estancia then lost to Segerstrom, 10-8. Umansky led with five goals and Paul finished with 14 saves



Segerstrom 55, Newport Harbor 27

CORONA DEL MAR — McKenna Izzi had eight points, four rebounds and two steals for the Sailors in their season opener at the CdM Tip-Off Classic Monday.

Jennifer Lopez added three points, 11 rebounds and two assists, while Hannah Doolin had five rebounds, two steals and two points for Newport Harbor, which will play against Costa Mesa Tuesday at 4 p.m.


San Juan Hills 55, Costa Mesa 39

CORONA DEL MAR — Molly Settles led the Mustangs with 11 points in their season opener at the CdM Tip-Off Classic Monday.

Rachel Witter added eight points and Sheena Reskey had six points for Costa Mesa.



El Dorado 48, Costa Mesa 29

SANTA ANA — Sean Comer scored nine points for the Mustangs in the Godinez tournament Monday.

Kyle Hefner added seven points, Andrew Wright had six points and Wyatt Ferris finished with three points and four rebounds for Costa Mesa.
